It has been a while since I visited this amazing place but it would be a huge mistake not to share some pictures and thoughts with you.
Me and Marc have always wanted to fly to England together .. it is Marc’s favourite place (especially London) and I simply love everything about the United Kingdom (who wouldn’t right? British accent, green on every corner, interesting people ..) but there was a special place I had in my mind .. a city in East Sussex – Brighton and Hove. Marc was happy about visiting this place as well so we purchased the fly tickets and I had to find some place where we could stay.
So back then I was browsing through the AirBnB website, and came across a lovely apartment just 5 minutes walk to North Laine and 10-15 minutes walk to Brighton Pier. I remember how I got extremely excited and immediately called Marc and asked if I could book it.
One month later, we were sitting in the easyJet airplane with two carry-ons and my new hat, happy, excited … two hours later when we landed and caught our bus to Brighton I found out that I had forgotten that beautiful hat under my airplane seat .. I was so sad and cried because of it. Awesome beginning I thought.
But as soon as we arrived to our destination, it went all away .. this place is amazing! The property where we were staying was really nice, clean and with anything we could need. I have to say, gay guys have such a great taste in decoration and design in general.
Now let me show you my favourite places in there ..
This is what it looks like when you’re walking right in the heart of the North Laine – Kensington Gardens. It is a very crowded street but one of the most amazing ones for sure in this area. It’s full of independent cafés and vintage shops, it feels like a maze a little, and every turn you make, something interesting shows up.
For example this shop is called the SNOOOPERS PARADISE – and it is, literally. You can find really anything you are looking for. For example some decorations, vintage clothes, toys, old magazines (like really really old – 1900 till now), World War II stuff, old forgotten photographs, postcards, sunglasses, old polaroid cameras .. anything one could think of. I fell in love with this place immediately. They have this amazing vintage Photomatic photo booth (from what I’ve read somewhere, it is an original, one of the first photo booth in Brighton) so naturally I couldn’t resist and inserted a pound inside. Just look at this:
Haha we had no idea when it was supposed to start taking photos so .. the first picture is pretty awful. But hey .. it was fun anyway!
I took a photos of some another places in the North Laine and the Lanes.
Thank you very much playing card.
The most calming and yet busy place is the Brighton sea front and Brighton Pier.
I recommend you this bubble tea brand .. sooo good.
You probably know by now that I love horror movies! Well .. this wasn’t very scary experience (expensive though haha) but it was fun.
When I had been still in Germany I’d purchased the tickets to SEA LIFE – an aquarium which is located right next to the pier. So we arrived as scheduled and these are some of our beautiful memories of this place.
It is a pretty small aquarium but one of the prettiest I have ever been to.
The next day we decided to go for a nice long walk from our apartment, through North Laine and Churchill Square (shopping centre) to Hove and we have seen some worthy places as well. Just see for yourself.
On the last picture you can see the famous West pier, ghost place if you ask me, but that is exactly what I love about it .. It looks abandoned yet alive ..
This day was such a long day, we fell in the bed right away .. but before that we got to see the Royal Pavilion + Pavilion Gardens and some interesting buildings around.
Because of the beautiful warm weather, we spent our 4th day on the beach, “gambling” in the Dome and having some fun on the attractions. We ordered famous Fish & Chips for a lunch and ate them whilst watching the ocean. It has been a very fun and an exhausting day .. we ended it with a nice romantic sunset on the beach.
It is stunning .. isn’t it?
Last day of our stay was pretty sad .. in a good way. We fell in love with this place so much. As soon as we packed our stuff, we went for a walk in the Lanes for the last time, have an unusual breakfast (for our sad broken hearts) and then we headed to the beach to enjoy the rest of this trip before leaving to the London Gatwick airport.
I hope you enjoyed this post and felt some positivity out of it. I will be back soon for sure. I have been thinking about it and this is probably the prettiest city with the most amazing positive vibes, I have ever been to.
Plan some trip as well, Petra.
