As you probably already know, I’ve spent last two weeks in Berlin, visiting my boyfriend. Since he’d still had some study obligations I had enough time to walk around Berlin, shop at my favourites places, clean and decorate the flat.. and you know this kind of stuff :).
So I decided to show you a quick canvas art DIY in the meantime. I think everyone can do this, it is very easy, a lot of fun to make and it’s always good to get creative once in a while. Se here we go ..
For this DIY you will need:
- Blank canvas
- Acrylic paints
- Brushes in different sizes
- Painter’s tape
First I used the painter’s tape to create a guideline for a first black stripe. (I was just eyeballing the measurement.) I chose black, because I’d thought it would go pretty well against the colourful background.
After that I started off with a blue and a mint colour and squeezed them directly onto the canvas. (I added rest of the colours later because I wanted those brighter colours to be more visible.)
This part is completely up to your imagination. I just made some random brush strokes all over the first half of a canvas. Make sure that you are washing your brushes after each colour transition – if you don’t want to do it on purpose ;).
Again, using the painter’s tape I created a guidelines for some geometric shapes and filled them with a chosen paint in the next step. As you can see above I used a pencil to draw down a line, where I wanted to have a black stripe later.
Then I had to wait for a few hours to let it dry properly before I could paint the final black stripe on.
And there it is! Hanging on the wall, making me smile anytime I pass by.
So this is it for today. I hope you guys enjoyed this quick DIY .. I had a lot of fun making it and I hope you are going to enjoy it as well if you decide to make one. ❤
